Their new location is really nice, but they need to pay more attention to both the food and the service. Paying the check or getting a table is difficult when they are busy because they aren't very organized. If you aren't a regular, then your service somehow isn't as good, because the waitresses are busy chatting with the regulars. This is a very popular restaurant in Waxhaw. This was a warm and friendly hometown establishment here in Waxhaw Our first visit for 7am breakfast had already plenty of locals enjoying hot breakfast. It really is hard to mess up breakfast, but they somehow managed it. None of the food, except my daughters waffle was hot, or for that matter tasty. It was like they just threw things on the plate to get the order back out. We called over the waitress, and she took the food back, but when it came back to our table it wasn't made very well. My wife is very allergic to onions, and her meal was covered with them. The food took 40 minutes to make it to our table. On our most recent visit, we were there with our 2 kids. We had to ask another waitress for drink refills, a to go box and our check. After she dropped off our food, she never came back to the table. Our waitress took our order but it took a long time to get food. I guess she didn't want to disturb him, so she came back and just reseated us across the restaurant. The waitress, went to speak to the owner, who was behind the counter talking to several people. We were seated promptly in a window seat, but were seated right under the air conditioner. We recently have had 2 bad experiences at Stacks and will not be returning to this business. If they need a dish washer, maybe he should go back to that, customer service is definitely not his strength! In other news, our server was great! It's sad to me that people feel they can act a certain way just because they are the "owner". Such a bummer because we used to go there often but will NEVER be back. I've never actually written a bad review but this needed to be shared. In a very condescending and rude manor he said to us "your food wasn't actually cold." He then proceeded to chase us out the door calling us and ugly b******, telling us we "looked funny" and that we could "wash his dishes" if we needed a job. A free meal Or something? " We insisted that we pay but it was the principle of how our visit went. When we asked to speak to the owner again they said "he's in the kitchen and can't come out" he finally came out after making us wait and said "ok, what do you want. Well when our bills came out we were actually overcharged. We told the owner about our experience and said we would eat the food because we had waited for so long but just wanted to let him know, he said he'd take care of it. We waited for over 45 minutes and our food came out cold. It's the only complaint that I had with this venue, but it was enough of an annoyance to go from 5 to 4 stars. After waiting for nearly an hour for our table and being told they "forgot to put us on the list" we finally were seated. If it's deemed necessary, play it softer as just some background music so people can enjoy their meals and conversations without being subject to something they don't want or need. I don't know why restaurants feel as if they have to blast music. We asked out waitress if she could lower the music and she did but soon after somebody turned it back up. We didn't like the music at all as it all sounded the same and just wasn't good (I know.I sound like my parents) but there were no young people there at the time and the fact that the place was fairly empty made it sound even louder. The only complaint we have is the loud, contemporary music that made it hard for us to converse. She loved the slaw though! So all in all, a very nice dining experience with a very nice waitress. As such, I ate the spinach and it was fine. The salmon was ok to her and the spinach she couldn't eat as it had garlic in it. My gf ordered the salmon with spinach and cole slaw. Very fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers (although kinda wish that the cucumber was sliced thinner - it came in a couple of nice sized chunks). The shrimp scampi spaghetti was excellent. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Our waitress was very nice, accommodating and friendly. Place was fairly empty other than a couple of other booths occupied.
