Once a tuner got a low battery, I would have to remember to swing by a drugstore to pickup a replacement. Once the battery got below that point and the performance started to suffer, there was still plenty left to power the tuner for a significant while, just with terrible performance. I finally realized that it was the battery running low that caused the performance drop off. I assumed the problem was just wear and tear, so that the device no longer made good contact, and stopped being able to detect the vibrations. But even improved, they always seemed to eventually stop performing well, but continue to soldier a while before the battery actually died. When the Snark line was introduced, they really seemed to improve both the accuracy and durability problems, and at a bargain basement price. They always seemed to stop registering signal well after a while. The first generation of low cost clip-on tuners weren't particularly accurate or durable. Since I spend most of my time playing acoustic instruments without a pickup or transducer, the clip-on is the solution of choice for me. But today, the tuner market is pretty much dominated by pedal board based solutions, and the ubiquitous and inexpensive clip-on tuner. When I started playing guitar, electronic tuners where kind of expensive, and unless you sprung for the Boss TU-12, they weren't particularly road worthy. How about alternative tunings? No problem! You'll find both transpose and pitch-calibration functions onboard your SN-8.Some people consider electronic tuners a crutch, but in loud environments, or for tuning discreetly, they are practical necessity. That's why Snark built a handy tap-tempo metronome right into the SN-8. First off, you should never be without a metronome. What more could you ask of a tuner? Snark thought of a couple of things. Even cooler, the SN-8 freely rotates 360 degrees, so it accommodates left-handed guitars and unconventional instrument shapes with ease. Whether you're in the darkest club or on the brightest outdoor stage, the SN-8's brilliant color display and large letters let you tune with confidence. Snark also designed the SN-8 to react faster than ever before, making it easy to tune both accurately and quickly.Īt Sweetwater, we've seen a ton of new tuners hit the street in the past few years, and the Snark SN-8 is hands down one of the brightest and easiest to read yet. It's Snark's tightest clip-on tuner to date! But that's not all. Unlike the vast majority of tuners that are really designed to work with just guitars and basses, the Snark SN-8 really will clip onto a wide range of instruments and provide you with rock-solid tuning. Super-tight tuning, no matter what you play What's more, the display rotates 360 degrees, so the Snark SN-8 is perfect lefties too! Just clip the SN-8 to the headstock of your guitar or any resonant part of your instrument, and you're good to go. Its ultra-tight tuning reacts directly to the vibration of your instrument, so you never have to worry about background noise as you tune. The SN-8 clip-on tuner is the only clip-on tuner you'll ever need, no matter what instrument you play.
